Cook Steak Like a Pro – Tips from Amanda Cordony

Tip 1: Make sure your steak is at room temperature so it cooks more evenly.
Tip 2: Try the reverse cooking method. Place in the oven first and then sear on your skillet.
Tip 3: Rest your steak before slicing so the meat relaxes and redistributes the juices throughout.

Tomahawk Steak
Prep time: 10 minutes l Cook time: 25 minutes + resting l Serves: 4

 

INGREDIENTS:
1 (750g) tomahawk steak, room temperature
4 tablespoons (60ml) olive oil
1 tablespoon sea salt
1 tablespoon cracked pepper

 

METHOD:
1. Preheat your oven to 220ºC (200ºC fan). Season the tomahawk by rubbing with olive oil, sea salt and cracked pepper.
2. Place the skillet with the tomahawk into the hot oven for 18 minutes for a medium rare steak.
3. Carefully place the hot skillet on high heat on the stove. Sear for 3 minutes on each side. Pressing down to achieve char lines.
4. Remove the tomahawk from the skillet and lace onto a tray. Leave to rest for 10 minutes. Slice and serve with mustard or tomato relish.
