Sustainability News from The Village

St Ives Village is constantly looking at ways to reduce our environmental footprint and revolutionise the way we operate.

Retailer in Focus… The Athlete’s Foot

The Athlete’s Foot is implementing great initiatives. Owner John Rae works with a charity, Shoes for Planet Earth, where you can take your old sports shoes into the store and they’ll be donated to kids in need in Africa. Visit John instore for more information about getting involved.

Greener Energy

Energy efficient LED Lights have been installed throughout The Village & in the car park. ‘Greener’ power is now making our power and air conditioning supply more efficient

Ban the Bags

Harris Farm have led the way banning single use plastic bags. Woolworths will be phasing out their plastic bags at the end of June and IGA are now charging 15c for their disposable bags.

Reusable Packaging

The Source Bulkfoods are leading the way at The Village promoting their waste free shopping. Many other retailers are promoting customers taking their own reusable containers.

Centre Upgrades

Following upgrades to The Village, we were able to recycle our old carpet tiles, being put to good use by St Ives Men’s Shed and House with No Steps.
