Nine key pieces you need to update your spring wardrobe.
It’s almost time to spring into the new season (‘scuse the pun). The days are getting longer and covetable spring fashion collections are quickly dropping into the Village’s stores. If you want to make the most of the latest looks, there are a few simple ways to refresh your wardrobe. Village Life magazine stylist Rebecca Rac says printed clothing and accessories are one easy and fun way to liven up your style.
“Opt for geometric or a Moroccan print,” she says. “Leopard print is also in this season. Try incorporating it into your look by adding a hint of the print in a pair of shoes or a belt.”
Rebecca also recommends updating some of your accessories – a more economical way of embracing new trends.
“Try a statement necklace, a hat and a new pair of sunglasses. Sunnies really frame your face, so choose a style to complement your face shape and try to match the frame shade to your hair colour.”
If you tend to shy away from bright colours, you’re in luck with spring’s plethora of pastel shades. Rebecca suggests choosing pastel-toned accessories or tops, and for a step into bolder hues, “bright jeans or bags are a great way of injecting some colour”.
She also recommends purchasing a printed dress and a pair of ankle boots, as both are smart trans-seasonal pieces. “They can be worn either on a balmy day, or if it’s chilly. Ankle boots are great to wear with pants, jeans and skirts, while you can layer your print dress with a coat, cardigan and tights if it’s cold, or team it with flat sandals or wedges in warmer weather.”
Similarly, a light trench is a spring must. “A trench is totally classic, effortlessly chic and great to wear in changeable spring weather,” says Rebecca.
Here are the nine essentials you need to inject some new life into your spring wardrobe.
